When it comes to making dinner lately- I am a slacker. I’ve spent so much time unpacking, moving things around, & just everything that goes along with it that I haven’t had the kitchen space or time to whip up something complicated. As much as I love making things from scratch, sometimes you just can’t. I’m also on the hunt for ideas that help re-purpose leftovers! Keep reading to check out how we customize crostinis & I’ll have a fun giveaway at the end too!
I recently had the opportunity to try these amazing sauces from Mezzetta. In our house we switch between making our own sauces & purchasing. By that I mean I don’t always have time to make sauce & my husband doesn’t know how to. He often makes pasta when I can’t make dinner, however, so purchased sauces come to the rescue! The problem for me is usually in the ingredients- so much sugar & additives that add zero value to the sauce. I’m seriously impressed with these though! The ingredients on the back are so simple & they use 100% hand-selected plum tomatoes. There’s also no added sugar, no paste, & no shortcuts. Mezzetta is also family owned and operated for over 80 years with the recipes originating from their Napa Valley Kitchen. They really do taste like homemade!
For our Crostini Night we like to pull some leftovers like ground turkey I used for tacos. I also use this opportunity to add veggies that we have to use! Roasted zucchini is definitely one of my favorites & it is so easy to throw in the oven before dinner. I went ahead & picked out the Mezzetta Napa Valley Homemade Sauce Roasted Garlic & Caramelized Onions for that extra flavor. Ryan really loved this sauce so I know we’ll be buying more in the future! Some other additions to our toasted bread slices was feta, Parmesan, red pepper, & some fresh basil from our new plant!
Another option is French bread pizza! You slice your bread lengthwise & add sauce then toppings like you would pizza. Then bake! Easy late night dinner ideas are so important! I love the crostini DIY buffet bar because I love options. I can make each one a bit different & this really helps with the leftovers as well! I went ahead & roasted double zucchini to throw in pasta sauce or stir fry the next night! Always thinking ahead!
