I’m never surprised when people ask me this question. Vegas has a reputation for being fun to visit- but who really wants to live here? I’m from California so people are always shocked I fell in love with this desert city. But I certainly have. In fact, we actually requested to come back. My parents have since moved near us. & even though the city is ever changing- we still absolutely plan to retire here. But why? WHY DO YOU WANT TO LIVE IN VEGAS? Let me break it down for you!
There is always something fun to do.
No matter what you’re into- you can find something that interests you here. Have kids? There are tons of parks (even water parks & splash pads!) as well as educational exhibits. We really loved the Mandalay Bay Aquarium (pictured above!) & there seem to be more & more kid-friendly attractions coming through town as well. As for adults- the music scene is fantastic. Not only do we have some of the best performers but we also have the bliss of being on almost every single concert tour. One of Ryan’s favorite things is that we can get up & go find something to do whenever we please. There are always things open to check out!
It isn’t just about the strip.
This is a tough one to understand for anyone who isn’t local. But Vegas & the surrounding area? SO much more than just that little trip that visitors frequent! We have tons to see & do that doesn’t even involve casinos- can you believe it? I highly recommend day trips out to Mount Charleston & my personal favorite is the Valley of Fire which I pictured above from a recent trip. Although the shopping & dining on the strip is fantastic- a lot of locals don’t want to brave those crowds. Also above is my favorite shopping area in Downtown Summerlin. It is located next to Red Rock Casino which is another stunning area. Lots of art, shopping, fantastic restaurants, & a great way to get out of the house.
Vegas is an incredible place to work.
For those of you unaware- I run two separate websites. Home in High Heels is all about lifestyle while All Things Beautiful XO is beauty-based. Vegas is the BEST place for my job where I still feel connected but not overwhelmed. I got to a lot of openings I’m interested in & also have amazing opportunities when brands visit. So many influencers (I cringe a bit saying that!) in my industry thing they need to live in New York or Los Angeles…but I’m incredibly happy with my career right here in Vegas. I get to share so much with you guys & LOVE when you tell me you’re adding my finds to your next trip out!
The food, entertainment, & fashion scenes are top-notch.
Again- NYC & LA are not the only place to have fun! If you hit Vegas you’ll find restaurants from just about every famous chef. We also have some absolutely gems that you’ve probably seen on TV & there’s a good reason. Vegas ROCKS for food & restaurant finds. Want to go see a show? Seriously- you can find about 200 & you’ll probably end up with a long list! & if you’re into shopping…start saving now. We have the best of the best! Unique brands, luxury brands, & even handmade items are huge here so you’ll likely want to bring a second suitcase to take it all home with you!
It is truly a mecca.
Like many other large cities, Vegas has become extremely varied. The communities are vast & you’ll likely find your neighbors are from all over the country. Actually- all over the world. Vegas draws people in with reasonable housing & taxes, but many of us stay for a whole lot more. & I wouldn’t have it any other way.
