When you fall in love with someone, you don’t always get to choose the details. Ryan is my match who happens to be in the military. I really struggle with both being a supportive military wife & having a “normal” home life like everyone else. Sometimes this life is really hard & we make a lot of sacrifices most people don’t have to think about. We are pretty blessed so it gets me thinking about the lives of other veterans & those serving as well. I get asked a lot- “What do you guys need?” “What can we do to say thanks?” & now I actually have an answer!
Simple things go a long way. I remember once after Ryan got back from 2 months of training far away & we were flat broke we scrounged together enough to eat a cheap dinner out. It wasn’t fancy but it was so nice to just be out together & get back to normalcy. A couple actually paid for our meal, to our surprise, after they heard us talking about his training & how much we had to get done now that he was back. I cried like a fool. It is little stuff like that- it goes a really long way.
Active or retired military members get free haircuts or a free haircut card on November 11th, and any customer who gets a haircut at Great Clips on November 11th receives a free haircut card to give to a veteran. Only veterans and active members of the military are eligible to redeem the free haircut card. Family members of said military members do not qualify. This is the third year Great Clips is running this promotion, and Great Clips is the only major salon brand that offers customers a way to thank the veterans in their lives!
What do you do to show our military & veterans you care? If you have family who served, how does it affect you? Tell me all about it in the comments below!
