I’m the first to admit that nerves often get the better of me. I tend to be fidgeter & have always been on the lookout for new ways to cope with that. When I was much younger my family used to travel for most holidays & on one trip my mom bought me a worry stone. This was a weirdly life-changing moment for me. I carried this stone with me for years & it really helped me to have it in my hand to fiddle with when I was anxious. As I got older…I realized carrying around this special rock might not be a great idea- with so many memories attached to it I’d be devastated id I lost it. So I knew I needed to find something new! Here’s a list I’ve been working to compile for awhile of some awesome, travel-friendly fidget toys for adults & kids alike!
Magic Loops– When I was younger there was kind of a gadget/new age store in our mall & one of my favorite things looked similar to this silver metal toy. This is quite a small version & honestly not my favorite of my fiddle toys. This is a bit more stiff & doesn’t make quite as many shapes but it does look nice on a desk which is great for the workplace! It really does look decorative.
Twiddle Fiddle Toy– I’m still kind of trying to get to know this toy to be honest! On Amazon- “70 fun, interchangeable pieces that can be shaped, molded, torn apart or snapped together in endless ways.” I expected kind of a stiff necklace/rope but this is really flexible. Definitely more like a plastic necklace shaped a bit like a bike chain? You can remove the individual pieces to make shapes… or so says the paper…I haven’t been very successful yet! The reason I do like this so much is that I can wear it as a necklace while I type & ponder methodically- like in movies because I’m so cool? I can also remove a few links & wear it as multiple bracelets or one double-wrapped one. So why bother with it? So much better than clanking metal around others & you can actually choose your colors too (pictured is purple). It makes a crinkling noise when it is collapsed & expanded which one reviewer described as “satisfying” & I had to agree.
Acupressure Massage Rings– Another jewelry item kind of… but this one is a bit different too! If you respond more to tactile items then this is perfect because they’re meant for acupressure! “Acupressure ring is a small metal ring made of little triangular shaped points that stimulate your fingers. Acupressure applies the same principal as acupuncture but does not penetrate the skin. Instead, it provides relief by applying pressure to certain points on the body and thereby releasing tension.” From the seller I linked on Amazon you get 10 rings for about $5 including shipping so I have them in my purse, by my desk, in the car, etc.
Crystal Iridescent Pyramid– If you love visual items & color- this is for you! This pyramid is for adults only as the edges can be a bit sharp though! At about 2.5 inches tall, this is the perfect desk addition. It looks great by a window too- the colors really shine through!
ShengShou 3x3x3 Puzzle Cube– I freely admit I’m not a cube person but if your brain works that way- right on! This cube really helps with concentration & gives you something to do with your hands. It claims to be good for speed cubing too…but you’d have to figure that one out for yourself!
Moon And Stars Magnetic Sculpture– This is one of those items I’ve wanted for a very long time after playing with them in pricey stores as a kid! Basically this is a magnetic base with thin magnetic stars & moons. If you’re into magnets- you’ll really enjoy this! Creating little sculptures is pretty fun for me personally! I love the moon & stars version but they have tons of other options recommended if you click through.
Crazy Aaron’s Super Illusions Mini Tin Assortment– Easily my favorite on this list is Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty! I have since bought multiple larger tins since buying this set of 3 smaller sizes because I enjoy them so much! This set is still what I recommend because the colors are just amazing- molten & duochrome! & opaque too! This trio includes Super Scarab, Super Lava, & Super Oil Slick which are all part of their Super Illusions line. Basically these feel similar to silly putty, leave no residue on the hands, & have a special formula that will never dry out! I plan to post more on some of my new ones in the future but you’ve got to check out their options ranging from magnetic to glittering & even glow in the dark!
So there you have some of my absolute favorite twiddle or fidget toys! I think I might add more down the road so I’d love to hear about your favorites! Anything I need to check out?
