It has been awhile since I posted about pet items! For those that don’t know- we lost our beauty boxer mix suddenly a few months ago & we were incredibly devastated. Still are. But we also have a new joy- our puppy Cap. Another boxer! So dogs have VERY much been our focus!! With that being said- I’ve been working on this Isle of Dogs feature for quite some time! I have five different things to discuss so keep reading! & see dog pictures of course!
“ISLE OF DOGS- where every dog shines“
Zeus is our senior dog! He was found on the streets & really, REALLY hates grooming. We think he is a Poodle/Bichon Frise mix & really needs extra care. I look for products that will be gentle because if anything stings- he has severe anxiety. When we got him, his feet were matted so badly that his nails were actually bent inward. Naturally, he hates his feet to be touched. It has taken many years to get him to the comfort level he is at now!
We’ve been using this Isle of Dogs No. 16 White Coat Evening Primrose Oil Shampoo on him with great results! He has some apricot bits- but he is generally white! He does, however, often look dirty from having zero fear of bushes & walking straight through them. Because we’re a more natural home, I love that the formula is dye-free & really helps around his mouth. He’s really hard to wash right there! It makes his coat cleaner, whiter, & so shiny!
This is another Zeus product. We actually groom him ourselves because going to the salon is just so traumatic for him. BUT if you have a poodle…you know he needs brushing. Whether he like sit or not! This is the Isle of Dogs Lush Coating Brush Spray & it smells divine with top notes of violet & ocean scents. This was “developed to be used to freshen and fluff up the coat and help give some fullness to a flatter coat.” After I brush him out I use this spray that both neutralizes odors between baths & I honestly think it keeps his coat from getting so tangled!
Meet Cap!!! I named him after my favorite superhero, naturally. He was born February 1st, 2017 & is an absolute riot. He is absolutely fearless, constantly babbling, & a hardcore smiler. He is also one who plays hard & naps hard! We’re currently learning “heel” before he gets so big he pulls my arm off! A liter needed homes & when we walked in he ran right up & asked to be picked up. & then he was already ours! We had to wait until they were ready to come home & that was SO hard! I can’t imagine our lives without a boxer- like Cobo, he brings us so much laughter & love.
Ever had a puppy? They need bathes. Frequently. Yesterday he literally knocked over a planter & sat in it. I was only able to bathe him once in the sink. Luckily, he is our hippo & absolutely LOVES drinking water. That makes bathtime soooo much easier! I let the water run & he drinks right from the faucet while I work on him. This is the Isle of Dogs No. 12 Triple Strength Evening Primrose Oil Shampoo & I’m kind of torn on it. He has dry, flaky skin so the ingredients are great. It is super nourishing & “a substantially higher therapeutic dose of cold-pressed Evening Primrose Oil than any product on the market.” But I really don’t like the scent! It makes me sneeze! Not sure what bothers me but I might need to try another option!

Brush spray helps reduce shedding, static and maintains a silky, healthy coat that stays cleaner, longer. Blended with coconut oil to help improve overall skin and coat condition. Also features ExtenScent, a natural odor-neutralizing complex that extends freshness and keeps dogs smelling better, longer.
My absolute favorite product of the bunch for both dogs? These Isle of Dogs Brush Sprays. The Red Berries + Champagne scent is dead on…I kind of wish it came in a human lotion! My favorite in the home & on the boys is the Sugar Cane + Grapefruit because it smells super fresh!
