Coloring books are everywhere these days, have you noticed? Some are cheaply made but affordable while others are incredibly intricate & printed on heavy paper. There are plenty floating out there just for adults now as well & the “trend” is picking up speed. I’m actually an artistic soul & tend to freehand but sometimes when my brain is overworked I love to color within the lines. It gives me a reason to think more about colors & actually relax more than sketching. The Time Chamber by Daria Song is the most beautiful book I’ve ever had the honor of coloring in. I love everything about this little “fairy tale” (more on that in a minute!) & the fact that it doubles as an actual book you can read your children has me head over heels. Keep reading to check it out!
This second book in the bestselling Time coloring series features the voyage of a fairy who, when the cuckoo clock chimes midnight, enters the human world. To the tiny fairy, everything seems enormous and magical, from the curtains to the chandelier to a mystical rowboat that takes her further into an inky adventure. With her she packs her favorite items, which colorers can find throughout the book’s pages: an owl-feathered pen, a star-scented spray, a time tape measure…even the key to the time chamber itself!
So what makes this different from your standard coloring pad? Everything. Firstly, this is a stunning rendition from a little fairy world. The details are intricate enough to make you think but still completely flow with the story. The spine is nice & thick but I can still manage to get it flat if I want to. The gold foil touches along the cover are absolutely gorgeous & I find myself really thinking about pairing my shades with the gold. The story is a lovely touch because I will be keeping this on my shelf for little ones after I’ve completed it. I can just see an older child using this as a gift for a younger sibling as well- wouldn’t that be heartfelt? It even has a To/From page to customize. I don’t have issues with bleeding but I generally use gel-type inks & colored pencils.
