Today I’m sharing tips for how I reach for sanity while still accomplishing some seriously heavy to-do lists! You all have seen me trying different methods & ideas especially on snapchat & instagram lately so I figured it was time to share! I’m going to break down my morning thought process for how I set myself up to have a productive day. Keep reading to check it out!
STEP #1- decide on your most important tasks first
Starting a huge list can be incredibly overwhelming. Especially on my first cup of coffee. Instead, start with 3-5 things that are the most important for the day. It can be anything- even grocery shopping or paying bills. Make those your most important tasks & the things you absolutely must complete. Basically- they come first & must be completed within your day even if you can’t do everything else. I often set these daily & sometimes weekly or monthly as well for something ongoing.
STEP #2- lay everything out in front of you
For some people- this will be obvious. For others- this is something you never do. & if you’re the 2nd type of person…it is eating up your productivity. Grab everything you need to be organized & put it all in front of you. I actually keep my planner, notepad, pens, & extras all next to each other so I can grab them every morning. Every time you have to get up & grab something, you lose focus & time.
STEP #3- grab a snack & settle in
Sounds simple- but this step is not to be missed! Grab your breakfast, snack, & drink. I’ve been sipping these Dannon Light & Fit Nonfat Yogurt Drinks ( they come in 4-packs at Walmart) because they don’t require a spoon, they’re portable, & I can just snap one out of the fridge. Whatever keeps your energy going & keeps you hydrated, put it next to you.
STEP #4- sit down without distractions
Put your phone to the side. Walk your pets beforehand. Turn off the tv. & focus. The key to getting into the mindset is allowing yourself to get there in the first place. Everyone has completely different ways of getting organized. Day to day? Hourly? Most important to least? But what really makes my time spent in a valuable way is when I’m focused. Forgetting tasks that need to be done because I’m distracted often means I need to completely rework my schedule.
Tell me- how to you prep to get organized? Do you prefer using a planner? A list? Both? Any tips you have as well are always appreciated!
