Just the most basic recipe- memorize it for perfect cookies each year!
Author: Stephanie Louise of Home in High Heels
Serves: 32 cookies
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour + extra for rolling
½ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Whisk together flour, baking powder, & salt. Set aside.
In an electric mixer cream your butter & sugar. You want it nice & fluffy!
Turn the mixer to low & slowly add in the flour mixture. Mix until combined.
Divide dough depending on how you want to cut (slices, shapes, etc) & freeze overnight. (You can also freeze until firm up to 3 months.)
Preheat over to 325. Line baking sheets with baking mats or parchment.
Let frozen dough stand about 5 minutes then roll out & cut dough or slice dough depending on preference. If the dough gets too soft...put it in the fridge for around 10 minutes to firm up.
Bake until edges are golden- about 10 to 15 minutes but it may take longer depending on size. I always leave my cookies on the tray for around 5 minutes to firm up a bit as well before transfering to cooling rack.
